Furniture Quality Control

What are the contents of the FQC check for furniture?

Furniture factory usually starts arranging the production of raw material after their furniture buyers confirm the order details and complete the advance payment. Many well-known oversea furniture brands will organize their own trusted QC teams to supervise and guide the production process of the products throughout to ensure that the products produced by the factory meet the unique high-quality level of the brand.

IPQC Raw Materials Control

During the production stage of products, from the selection of raw materials, processing of parts, assembly of semi-finished products, assembly of finished products, and other processes before packaging, QC personnel are arranged to inspect each process. This is called In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) which is an inspection on the production line.

FQC Furniture
During the packaging process in the factory production, QC personnel are arranged to carry out inspections, which are called Final Quality Control (FQC) for completed products.

Almost all foreign furniture brands attach great importance to FQC and arrange team members with the most abundant work experience to perform this job. So, what are the contents of the FQC’s work? What is the important significance of these jobs?

FQC mainly inspects the following content of the products:
Product Raw Materials
Furniture Raw Materials Check
The inspection includes comparisons of the color, thickness, density, elasticity, etc. of the standard material samples. The raw materials used in the products are required to be completely consistent with the confirmed material samples provided by the customer, without any deviation.
Product Dimensions
Furniture Dimension Check
The inspection includes the overall assembled dimensions of the product, the dimensions of the components, the dimensions of the movable space, etc., all of which must fully comply with the customer’s order requirements without any unacceptable deviations.
Product Structure
Furniture Structure Check
The inspection includes whether the overall structure of the product is safe, whether it is firm and not loose, whether it can be easily assembled, whether it can easily replace damaged parts, whether there are abnormal movements of functional components, etc.
Product User Experience
Furniture User Experience Check
The inspection includes the status of the product during normal use, the status that may occur during abnormal use, and the sensations that people will experience when using the product, such as relaxation, softness, firmness, and specific usage methods that need to be noted.
Furniture Package Check
Product Packaging
The inspection includes the material of the carton, the printing of the label, the packaging materials of the internal product components, packaging protection, component labeling, product instructions, and so on. One important test is the drop test of the carton, which means that the product is fully packaged in a carton. According to the weight after the completion of the finished product packaging, it is lifted to different heights, and a corner of the carton with three edges and six faces is selected for drop testing. The test result needs to be that no unexpected damage occurs to any part inside the carton in order to pass the drop test.
In general, the work of FQC is to provide a very professional and objective evaluation of furniture products that will eventually be delivered and used by customers. A good and accurate evaluation result is a very important quality guarantee for furniture brands, and it is also one of the effective measures to reduce customer complaints about products. This is a very critical and important work to be done.
